A series of live carol concerts will kick off on Friday, December 13, in the medieval city center of Brasov, with a performance by the Apollonia Big Band featuring Alexandra Fits, Vice Mayor Dan Ghiță announced on Tuesday.
“On Friday, we are starting the series of live broadcasts in Piața Sfatului (with a concert by the Apollonia Big Band and Alexandra Fits. This is the first of the series, and starting next week, every evening on December 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23, we will have live concerts broadcast on the big screen in Piața Sfatului. If concert halls are too crowded during this time, we want to offer Brașov residents and tourists the opportunity to enjoy these concerts in Piața Sfatului,” the vice mayor stated, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.
The series of concerts and carols offered by the municipality as part of the event “Brașov, A Storybook City” continues on Thursday, with performances in Piața Sfatului by the Waldorf Sophia Children’s and Adults’ Choir, the “Corona” Carol Group from the Brașov County Gendarmerie Inspectorate “Nicolae Titulescu,” and the “Zestrea Branului” Folklore Ensemble.
As part of the concerts broadcast on the big screen, those visiting Brașov’s historic center over the weekend will also be able to enjoy performances by the artists of the Ma Ra Mu project, presenting traditional carols reimagined in a contemporary version (Saturday), and Adrian Naidin with his “Sweepers of Heaven”, a concert blending Romanian carols with elements of contemporary jazz (Sunday).
